In a bid to promote health and wellness, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and MoS for Home Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday participated in the ‘Yog Shivir’ at the Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad under the ‘Healthy Gujarat – Obesity Free Gujarat’ campaign.

PM Modi during his ‘Man Ki Baat’ program spoke about making India obesity-free, and by taking inspiration from it, CM Bhupendra Patel announced that by the end of 2025, he aims to make Gujarat a “healthy” and “obesity free” state.
Emphasizing the significance of yoga in modern times. In his address, the chief minister highlighted the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life, including improved physical and mental well-being.
Maj Gen Rai Singh Godara, ADG, Gujarat Dte praised and complemented the Gujarat NCC Cadets for their zeal and enthusiasm. He said, “A total of approximately 1,000 NCC Cadets, Officers, and Training Staff of Ahmedabad Group under NCC Directorate Gujarat enthusiastically participated in the state-level International Yoga Day-2025 celebration held at Sabarmati Riverfront Ahmedabad. This event was organized with the vision of promoting a healthier and fitter India through the ancient wisdom of yoga, as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”

The Yoga event was planned by Brig N V Nath, Group Commander NCC Ahmedabad and very well executed on ground by Lt Col Arvind Joshi, Commanding Officer, 1 Gujarat Armd Sqn NCC Ahmedabad.
The NCC cadets performed a synchronized yoga demonstration, showcasing their discipline and commitment to fitness. The event emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting overall wellness and stress management. The participation of NCC cadets underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting fitness and discipline among the youth. The celebration aimed to inspire individuals to adopt yoga as a way of life, promoting a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. By participating in this event, NCC cadets demonstrated their dedication to the Prime Minister’s vision of a fit and healthy India, the statement added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to mark celebrations for the International Yoga Day, scheduled to be celebrated on June 21 in Andhra Pradesh.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed happiness at witnessing people’s enthusiasm ahead of the Yoga Day celebrations and said that “Yogandhra 2025” was a commendable effort to popularise the ancient practice.
Ahead of the International Yoga Day, the Gujarat State Yoga Board, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, and the District Administration are jointly organising a yoga shivir.
