Indian Railways has conferred high honours on India’s 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup champions — Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana and Renuka Singh Thakur — promoting them to the prestigious Group ‘B’ Officer-grade position of Officer on Special Duty (Sports). The coveted elevation, granted through Out-of-Turn Promotion, recognises their pivotal contributions to India’s historic title-winning campaign.

Under their new posts, the three cricketers will receive the salary and privileges of Group ‘B’ Gazetted Officers, placed at Level-8 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The move by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) aims to provide long-term financial stability while entrusting the athletes with administrative duties alongside their sporting commitments.

The trio was earlier honoured at Rail Bhawan in November during a special felicitation hosted by the Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Pratika Rawal, previously serving as a Senior Clerk with Northern Railway, now steps into her new role as OSD (Sports). The Delhi opener played a vital role in India’s World Cup triumph with her consistent and composed batting performances.
Renuka Singh Thakur, promoted from Junior Clerk to Group ‘B’ OSD (Sports), has been one of India’s most dependable medium-fast bowlers. Her incisive spells in crunch matches were instrumental in India’s successful campaign.
All-rounder Sneh Rana, serving as a Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk (CCTC) before her promotion, also moves up as OSD (Sports). Known for her match-turning contributions with both bat and ball, she was one of the standout performers in the tournament.
Indian Railways, long known for nurturing sporting excellence, continues its legacy of supporting national athletes. With these promotions, the organisation reinforces its commitment to empowering women in sports and recognising achievements that bring glory to the nation.
