Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has appealed to the people to stay put wherever they are to help fighting the coronavirus here on Thursday.
Jagan assured that all measures are being taken from government and seeking cooperation from the people to keep inside their residences. The Chief Minister addressed the people at 5 p.m. on Thursday and it was livestreamed by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
Addressing reporters after a high level review meeting, he said if people keep moving it will be difficult to track the contact points and situation would turn more challenging for those working to eradicate the coronavirus.
People should stay home and helpline numbers 104 for medical emergencies and 1902 for other emergencies are active round the clock for the public.
If people observe home isolation it will be easy to track the needy and their contact point. We were never before in such an emergency, he said.
There are ten positive cases so far and we have tracked 27,819 foreign returnees. The government has put in place isolation wards and dedicated medicare with critical care at four places. The facilities at the hospitals, isolation wards are well equipped to meet the requirements but the three week self isolation would be a great contribution to the nation, he said.
One hundred bedded isolation centers are in place at constituency level and the officials and ministers are constantly monitoring the situation closely, the Chief Minister said.
Appealing to the people to cooperate and stay home till April 14 he appreciated the services of village volunteers health secretaries, ANMs Asha workers, sanitation and other public utility workers.
They are carrying out the second round of mapping and sending the data to government which is very useful, he said.
Ten Departments are integrated to look into the non medical emergencies and we have lifted ban on goods vehicles.
Rythu Bazaars will be decetralised and social distancing must be strictly followed, he said.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has assured that there would be no problem for food and shelter to those staying in hostels, he said and appealed to everyone to stay put wherever they are.
Some students were taken in and were rushed to isolation centers, he said.
