CHENNAI, MAY 14

Tamil film industry’s evergreen star Sivakumar and his sons, actors Suriya and Karthi handed over Rs. 1 crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on Thursday. Thala Ajit Kumar donated Rs. 25 lakhs on Friday, says a release from the government.

CM Stalin had recently urged people to donate generously to fight against second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected most Indian states severely.

After meeting the CM, Sivakumar told reporters, “People are battling against fire. We have to save them from COVID-19. We should all raise support for that. We are trying to do what we can and this is our small contribution. Everyone should be healthy. Those in the media, please stay healthy. Please pray for people’s health,” he said.

During the first wave of Covid-19 Suriya and Karthi had helped workers of the Tamil film industry. They had also donated Rs 10 lakh each to then CM Edappadi K Palaniswami’s fund.

On the work front, Suriya will be next seen in Vetrimaaran’s Vaadivasal. He was last seen in Soorarai Pottru, which skipped theatrical release and premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video.

Karthi, on the other hand, was last seen in Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s Sulthan. He will be next seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan and PS Mithran’s Sardar.

Thala Ajit, Udhayanidhi Stalin & AR Murugadoss donates Rs. 25 lakhs

Thala Ajit Kumar donated Rs. 25 lakhs on Friday.

Confirming the news, Ajith’s publicist and manager Suresh Chandra took to Twitter and wrote, “Shri Ajith Kumar had donated twenty five lakhs to the Chief Minister relief fund today via bank transfer (sic)”.

On the professional front, Ajith will next be seen in the action-thriller Valimai directed by H Vinoth. Produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects, the film features Ajith in the role of a police officer.

The much-awaited movie also has Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya Gummakonda playing pivotal characters. Originally, Valimai was scheduled to get released last year in theatres but got delayed due to the pandemic.
