Three from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras were among the Padma awardees, a statement from the institute said on Saturday.
IIT Madras Director Bhaskar Ramamurthi in his media release said, “The Institute takes immense pride in sharing the news of Padma Awards being conferred by the Government of India on two of its faculty members and a distinguished alumnus.”
Padma Bhushan was conferred on Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Group and Honorary Professor of Practice, IIT Madras and Padma Shri was conferred on Prof Pradeep Thalappil, Institute Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras. Padma Shri was conferred on. Prem Watsa, Founder-Chairman, Fairfax Financial Holdings, and Distinguished Alumnus, Batch of 1971, IIT Madras
