Some books are written to tell a story; others are born out of a journey of faith. In the Footsteps of Periyava seeks to do the latter — preserving, in English, a collection of deeply cherished experiences surrounding Sri Kanchi Mahaperiyava and offering readers a glimpse into the spiritual legacy that continues to inspire devotees across generations.
- ‘In the Footsteps of Periyava’ chronicles sacred experiences, miracles and divine guidance associated with Sri Kanchi Mahaperiyava
- Giri Trading Agency brings out the English-language spiritual work through its Giri Books Publications initiative
- Book released at Mahaperiyava Temple, Mylapore, in the presence of devotees, spiritual scholars and well-wishers
- Author S. R. Krishnan continues to carry the message of Sanatana Dharma through spiritual discourses in the US
Published by Giri Trading Agency, the book by S. R. Krishnan, a devoted disciple of Sri Kanchi Mahaperiyava (Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal), was released at the Mahaperiyava Temple in Mylapore, Chennai, in the presence of devotees and well-wishers.
The book brings together accounts of what devotees regard as miracles associated with Mahaperiyava during his lifetime, besides experiences of the divine guidance and blessings he is believed to have bestowed upon those who sought his spiritual counsel.
A disciple’s journey preserved in print
Krishnan, who continues to conduct spiritual discourses in the United States and remains committed to the path of Sanatana Dharma, has recorded these experiences with devotion and reverence.
Rather than presenting the subject merely as a historical account, the publication seeks to preserve personal experiences and spiritual memories associated with Mahaperiyava for readers seeking to understand the continuing influence of one of the most revered figures of the Kanchi tradition.
The book release itself was held in an atmosphere reflecting the devotional character of the work, at the Mahaperiyava Temple in Mylapore.
A release steeped in spiritual symbolism
Swaminathan, a renowned spiritual orator, writer and ardent devotee of Mahaperiyava, released the book.
The first copy was received by Ganesh Sharma, trustee of the Mahaperiyava Temple, Mylapore, who is described as a dedicated servant of Mahaperiyava’s mission.
The occasion was attended by Giri Trading Agency Directors Ramnarayanan and Srinivasan, along with Amar Girish, Head of Sales. The dignitaries honoured the special guests and conveyed their gratitude to devotees and well-wishers who participated in the function and supported the publication.
The gathering thus brought together the worlds of spiritual discourse, publishing and devotion, giving the book an appropriate setting for its formal unveiling.
Seven decades of carrying India’s spiritual heritage
The publication is part of Giri Trading Agency’s continuing endeavour to make India’s spiritual and cultural heritage accessible to readers and devotees.
With more than seven decades of association with spiritual and cultural products, the organisation has expanded its publishing activities through Giri Books Publications, bringing out works centred on Indian tradition, spirituality and values.
In the Footsteps of Periyava adds another title to this publishing journey, particularly by making these accounts available to an English-speaking readership in India and overseas.
The book is now available at Giri stores across India and through the publisher’s online platforms.
