AHMEDABAD, SEPT 7

What happens when the classroom’s usual teachers become the stars of the day—and their students suddenly discover just how demanding, inspiring and rewarding teaching can be?

That question found a delightful answer at Delhi Public School–Bopal, where Teachers’ Day unfolded not merely as a ceremonial tribute but as a vibrant celebration of the people who turn lessons into learning, curiosity into confidence and young minds into future possibilities.

The celebrations opened on a note of reverence with a solemn floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, symbolising the school’s deep respect for knowledge, wisdom and the noble profession of teaching. A graceful and soulful Guru Vandan dance performance followed, setting an evocative tone for a day dedicated to the luminaries of learning.

A salute to those who make learning come alive

Principal Sabina Sawhney expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the teaching fraternity, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to inspiring young minds, nurturing curiosity and empowering every learner to grow with confidence and purpose.

The atmosphere soon shifted from solemnity to celebration, with students presenting a colourful bouquet of musical renditions and creative tributes. Through songs and performances, they expressed their admiration, affection and gratitude towards the teachers who guide them far beyond textbooks and examinations.

The Head Boy and Head Girl added their voices to the tribute, delivering warm and heartfelt speeches highlighting the invaluable role of teachers in shaping students’ lives, discovering their talents and guiding them towards becoming responsible, confident individuals.

23 teachers shine in the Kalorex spotlight

Recognition took centre stage with the presentation of the Kalorex Core Values Awards, honouring 23 teachers for their exceptional dedication and meaningful contributions.

The Performance Quotient Awards and Student Topper Incentive Awards added another celebratory dimension, recognising 29 teachers whose exemplary mentorship and steadfast guidance played a pivotal role in helping students of Grades X and XII achieve outstanding results in the Board Examinations.

The Overall ETP (Excellent Teachers Program) was also awarded, with its theme centred on “Differentiated Instructions and Innovations in Teaching-Learning Practices”, underscoring the importance of evolving teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

When students became teachers

Perhaps one of the most engaging elements of the celebrations was the special classroom initiative in which students temporarily stepped into the shoes of their teachers.

Armed with confidence and enthusiasm, the young educators conducted lessons for their classmates, experiencing first-hand the preparation, patience, responsibility and communication skills required to keep a classroom engaged.

What looked like a fun role reversal became an invaluable lesson in itself—giving students a newfound appreciation for the countless efforts teachers invest in making every lesson meaningful.

Where education met entertainment

The celebration then turned up the entertainment quotient with a scintillating fashion show and captivating dance performances. Students showcased confidence, creativity, talent and infectious enthusiasm, keeping the audience thoroughly entertained.

The assembly concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by the Vice Head Boy and Vice Head Girl, expressing sincere gratitude to the teachers, students and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the occasion memorable.

And because gratitude is best served with a generous helping of good food, the teachers were treated to a special lunch titled ‘Flavours of Gratitude’—a sumptuous spread that added a delicious finishing touch to the celebrations.

A day where gratitude became the lesson

By the end of the celebrations, DPS-Bopal had transformed Teachers’ Day into much more than an annual observance. It became a lively blend of reverence, recognition, role reversal, music, dance, creativity and camaraderie.

The celebrations left students and teachers with cherished memories while reinforcing a timeless truth: teachers do far more than complete syllabi—they ignite curiosity, nurture confidence and serve as torchbearers of wisdom, inspiration and knowledge.
