The JCSSI is a unique national-level forum of management and trade union representatives from both public and private sector steel companies. The committee was established with the primary objective of safeguarding valuable human resources against possible hazards in the steel industry. JCSSI instituted the “Ispat Suraksha Puraskar” to recognise the safety performance of plants, specific operational zones and mines/collieries that have been free of any fatal accident during a given time period.
