CHENNAI, MARCH 12
One year ahead of crucial Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu and to strengthen its base, Vice-Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Loganathan Murugan has been appointed as the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday. Incidentally, Murugan is the second leader from the Dalit community to take up this post. SP Kirubanithi held the post 20 years ago.

Murugan, a practicing lawyer of the Madras High Court, has got his Masters in International Law from the University of Madras. Born in 1977, Murugan also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
The 42-year old leader was hailing from Rasipuram in Namakkal District.
