Friends of Women’s World Banking India (FWWB India) brought India’s grassroots banking innovations to the global stage at the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) Global Annual Conference 2025, held in Riviera Maya, Mexico, from September 30 to October 2.

For the first time, FWWB India participated in this premier global forum, which convened nearly 700 delegates from 300+ organizations worldwide under the theme “Building Tomorrow’s Ecosystems: Connect, Innovate, Transform.”

Drawing on its 40+ years of empowering women entrepreneurs, FWWB India hosted a high-level roundtable on “Empowering Women Nano Entrepreneurs: Inclusive Financial Models for Sustainable Growth.” The session emphasized the role of nano-entrepreneurs — small, hyperlocal, women-led businesses — in driving inclusive economic growth. Insights from FWWB’s research highlighted structural barriers, credit gaps, and the need for tailored financing solutions that recognize the heterogeneity of this segment.
“By presenting women-centric credit models, we were able to highlight the financial solutions that directly impact growth and sustainability for India’s nano and micro entrepreneurs,” said S S Bhat, CEO of FWWB India.
Neha Kansara, COO, added, “The ANDE Conference gave us the platform to amplify the voices of India’s women entrepreneurs globally and reaffirm our commitment to designing ecosystems that work for women.”
The three-day event featured keynote insights from Nobel laureate Dr. Esther Duflo and highlighted global trends such as climate entrepreneurship and inclusive finance innovation. FWWB’s participation positions it as a key voice in shaping inclusive global financial ecosystems, with learnings expected to further strengthen its mission of empowering women entrepreneurs in India.
