The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA), a U.S.-based coalition of leading nonprofits dedicated to India’s development, has opened registration for the 4th annual India Giving Day, taking place on March 13, 2026. This year’s theme, #PowerOfUs, celebrates the collective strength of the Indian American community and its potential to accelerate India’s progress toward the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
- Nonprofit organizations serving India encouraged to apply by October 31
- The impact has been remarkable. In just three years, donor participation has grown from 1,031 contributors raising $1.3 million in 2023 to 2,691 donors giving $8.8 million in 2025
- Organizers are calling on every Indian American family to pledge $100 or more during the campaign window (March 1–13, 2026).
Launched in 2023, India Giving Day has quickly become a flagship campaign for the diaspora. Unlike local giving days across the U.S., this initiative is unique: it channels nationwide philanthropy toward trusted organizations working in India across education, healthcare, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, and more.
The impact has been remarkable. In just three years, donor participation has grown from 1,031 contributors raising $1.3 million in 2023 to 2,691 donors giving $8.8 million in 2025. Much of this momentum has come from volunteers, youth leaders, and everyday families who have turned their voices and networks into powerful fundraising tools.
“India Giving Day has fueled a surge in diaspora philanthropy,” said Alex Counts, Executive Director of the India Philanthropy Alliance. “Now we must build on that momentum to help more people and communities in India thrive by supporting some of the best nonprofits in the world.”
Supporters value India Giving Day not only for its impact but also for its credibility. “Our platform features carefully vetted organizations, offering donors confidence that their contributions are making a difference,” said Deepak Raj, Chairman of the India Philanthropy Alliance and National Co-Chair of India Giving Day.
Leaders across the participating nonprofits echo the spirit of collaboration. “India Giving Day is about more than fundraising—it’s about solidarity,” said Sejal Desai, Executive Director of Akanksha Education Fund and Co-Chair of the Steering Committee. “It gives supporters the chance to explore and engage with causes that resonate most with their philanthropic goals.”
The campaign has also sparked enthusiasm among young people. “Hundreds of youth and young professionals joined last year through our Youth Leadership Council—and the numbers will be even stronger this year,” said Manisha Bharti, CEO & Global Executive of Pratham USA.
Organizers are calling on every Indian American family to pledge $100 or more during the campaign window (March 1–13, 2026). If embraced widely, this simple act could double the resources available to nonprofits transforming lives across India.
India Giving Day 2026 is led by a Steering Committee of IPA board members and staff, alongside National Co-Chairs, Ambassadors, and youth leaders. The campaign is supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Jain Family Foundation, Avestar Capital, Sehgal Foundation, Wadhwani Impact Trust, Ujala Foundation, and the Raj Family Foundation.
For more information and to register, nonprofits are encouraged to apply by October 31, 2025.
