In an era where technology shapes the imagination of young minds, children today explore, create, and express themselves in ways that were unimaginable a decade ago. Among these bright young stars stands Akshita (Pakhi) Yadav, who became India’s youngest-ever recipient of the National Child Award—a remarkable achievement earned at the age of 4 years and 8 months for her excellence in art and blogging.
Born to Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, and Akanksha, a college lecturer, Akshita grew up in a home filled with reading, writing, art, and creativity. Both parents are writers and bloggers, and they found the perfect way to celebrate their daughter’s creativity—by sharing it with the world.
A Blogger Before She Learnt to Spell the Word
Akshita’s journey began with her love for drawing. Her parents initially admired her artwork casually, but soon realised she had something special. To preserve her creativity, they started a blog called “Pakhi Ki Duniya” on 24 June 2009. What began as a digital scrapbook quickly transformed into one of the most popular Hindi blogs among nearly one lakh others.
Her colourful drawings, charming poems, travel notes, and photographs attracted not only children but also adults who were moved by the honesty and imagination of her posts. Over time, Akshita gradually took charge of her blog, adding her own voice and ideas.
International Recognition at a Young Age
Her work soon gained global appreciation.
- At the First International Bloggers’ Conference (New Delhi, 2011), she received the Best Young Blogger Award.
- At the Third International Bloggers’ Conference (Kathmandu, 2013), she represented India as the only child blogger.
- At the Fifth International Bloggers’ Conference (Sri Lanka, 2015), she was honoured with the Parikalpana Junior SAARC Blogger Award.
Her poems and drawings have been published widely in newspapers and magazines, and her interviews have been aired on All India Radio and several TV channels. A chapter about her journey titled “Little Blogger Pakhi’s High Flight” has been featured in the book Aur Humne Kar Dikhaya published in Lucknow.
A Young Mind with a Caring Heart
Despite her achievements, Akshita remains grounded. She dreams of becoming an IAS officer and already engages in social work—donating books, clothes, and raising awareness for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
Her story highlights a powerful message: talent has no age. With the right environment, encouragement, and love, even tiny hands can create big impacts.
Her dad Krishna Kumar Yadav said: “Every child has a spark. When parents help that spark grow instead of comparing their children with others, they begin to shine in their own unique ways.”
Her mother, Akanksha added: “We never pushed Akshita to perform. We simply gave her space to explore. Creativity blooms naturally when children feel supported and trusted.”
Akshita’s message to students: “If you love doing something, start small but start today. Don’t wait to grow up to follow your dreams—your dreams can grow with you.”
