Air Marshal Tejbir Singh has assumed charge as Director General (Inspection & Safety) at Air Headquarters effective 1 December 2025, bringing with him more than 37 years of distinguished service and deep-rooted operational experience in the Indian Air Force.
An alumnus of the Royal College of Defence Studies, UK, the Air Officer has held a wide array of key command and staff appointments, including Air Attaché to Bangladesh, Senior Directing Staff (Air) at the National Defence College, New Delhi, and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Transport & Helicopters) at Air HQ. His career reflects a rare blend of strategic insight, operational excellence and global exposure.
With over 7,000 flying hours, Air Marshal Tejbir Singh played a pivotal role in the induction of the C-130J ‘Super Hercules’ fleet into the IAF and in establishing the force’s first dedicated Special Operations Squadron, designed for tri-service missions. He has commanded two major flying bases, a premier training establishment and a frontline operational station supporting the strategic Northern sector.
In his previous tenure as Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ Training Command, he spearheaded a major transformation to seamlessly align IAF training frameworks with contemporary operational needs.
His exemplary service has been recognised with the Vayu Sena Medal (2010) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2018).
Air Marshal Tejbir Singh takes over from Air Marshal Makarand Bhaskar Ranade, who superannuated on 30 November 2025 after an illustrious four-decade career.
