Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, in collaboration with Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), conducted a one-day intensive training programme on “Financial Planning, Financial Fraud, and Cyber Fraud Prevention and Mitigation” for personnel of the 185 Battalion at the Recruit Training Centre (RTC), Srinagar (Lethpora, Pulwama), under the CDSL–RRU Project.
The programme, led by Brigadier Rohit Nautiyal (DIG/Principal), aimed at strengthening financial awareness and cyber resilience among uniformed personnel, aligning with the national mission to enhance financial literacy and digital safety across India.
Vision, mission and practical defence against cyber threats
Following the opening remarks, Anshu Singh, Assistant Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University, presented an overview of the vision and mission of RRU and delivered specialised sessions focused on financial planning and cyber safety.
The training underscored RRU’s commitment to equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools required to navigate modern financial systems and protect themselves from evolving cyber and financial frauds. Participants were trained in practical strategies for sound financial management and robust defence mechanisms against fraudulent activities.
480 recruits to receive certification from RRU
Deputy Commandants Dolfe Jacob and Pawan Kumar formally initiated the programme by outlining the structure and objectives of the training. They highlighted that 480 registered recruits would receive certificate training from Rashtriya Raksha University, marking a significant step in institutionalised financial education for security personnel.
Experts also detailed the nationwide mandate of the CDSL–RRU Project, explaining how the initiative integrates academic expertise with on-ground capacity building to promote financial literacy and cyber awareness at scale.
overwhelming response at RTC Srinagar, 600 personnel trained
The programme, conducted in two batches, witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 600 personnel, including grading officers, SOS and staff. Participants appreciated the clarity, relevance and real-world applicability of the sessions, which covered key aspects of financial planning, common financial and cyber frauds, preventive safeguards and mitigation strategies.
The successful execution of the training at RTC Srinagar marks a significant milestone in the CDSL–RRU Project’s mission to cultivate financial awareness and cyber resilience nationwide. It also highlights the growing collaboration between academic institutions like RRU and security forces to address emerging financial and digital risks.
Under the leadership of Brigadier Rohit Nautiyal, the programme reaffirmed the commitment of the Recruit Training Centre to the holistic development, financial security and digital preparedness of its personnel, reinforcing the idea that national security today also depends on financial and cyber vigilance.
