About 4000 tests were conducted in one day using the new test kits and the telemedicine has become an instant hit in Andhra Pradesh, said Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Saturday.

Addressing reporters after the review meeting on COVID-19, the Chief Minister said that over 4,000 tests were conducted in the labs and through the TreuNat machines just in one day on Friday and that the rapid test kits used for screening for the first time were very useful.
While there was only one lab in Tirupati before the onset of COVID-19, later six more labs were set up in the state to tackle the situation and the number of labs would be increased to12 in a week, with two more in Tirupati, one each in Kurnool, Prakasam and Srikakulam districts, officials said at the review meeting.
There was good response to telemedicine, the officials said, and medical services were provided by replying to 5,219 phone calls. Prescriptions were sent those in need and medicines would also be provided free of cost, they added.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the success of the scheme to provide five kinds of fruits for just Rs 100. He directed the marketing department to move ahead aggressively by taking up novel marketing strategies.
Vice- Chairman of Agricultural Mission MVS Nagi Reddy said, despite the government’s effort in providing adequate marketing facilities to farmers during this troubled times, negative propaganda was being disseminated in a section of the media. He said that it was falsely reported that a prawn trader had called up a newspaper editor and abused the government’s functioning. He said it was going viral in the Youtube.
He sought stringent action against such perpetrators.The officials told the Chief Minister that there was a slight movement in the transport sector and that 35% of transportation has been restored. They said that as per the Chief Minister’s instructions, facilities at the quarantine centres were improved.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to give top priority to hygiene and cleanliness.
Andhra to invest Rs 16,000 crore to revamp hospitals
Andhra Pradesh government will invest Rs 16,000 crore for the Nadu-Nedu programme to revamp hospitals.
In a review meeting held here with the health department officials on Saturday, the Chief Minister sought details on the construction and development works of village clinics, primary health care centres, community health centres, area hospitals, and district-level hospitals under the Nadu-Nedu programme. He ordered the officials to identify places for the construction of new medical colleges in the state.
Briefing the importance of the Nadu-Nedu programme in the health sector, Chief Minister said that the fruits of this programme will be a great asset to future generations and the public health care system will be strengthened in the state. He asked the officials to call for tenders in the first week of June and the estimated budget for the Nadu-Nedu programme and construction of new medical colleges is Rs 16,000 crore.
Nadu-Nedu in hospitals will be a historical programme and no other government has taken such measures to strengthen the public health care system, Chief Minister said and added that public and nation will stand with the government for such programmes.
Clear way for aqua goods Jagan tells Assam CM
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to his Assam counterpart over phone and requested him to make arrangements for hazzle free aqua export.
He reminded the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal that aqua export from Andhra Pradesh is extensive and requested him to ensure to take necessary steps not to stop the aqua products trucks in the state border and to open the fish markets in Assam.
Assam Chief Minister assured that all the necessary measures will be taken in this regard and asked YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to help the people of Assam who are stranded in Andhra Pradesh due to lockdown.
