Against the serene backdrop of the Nilgiri hills, the Indian Army’s Madras Regimental Centre (MRC), Wellington, marked the 12th International Day of Yoga with a vibrant blend of wellness, community outreach and social engagement, bringing together soldiers, families, school children and local residents in a shared celebration of healthy living.

Centred on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the observance highlighted yoga’s enduring value as a powerful tool for maintaining physical vitality, mental resilience and emotional well-being throughout life.
The celebrations featured a series of outreach and wellness initiatives leading up to the grand finale on June 21, when more than 1,000 participants gathered for a mass yoga session, making it one of the region’s most significant International Day of Yoga events.
The programme showcased the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting holistic health not only among its personnel but also within the wider community. Participants from diverse backgrounds came together to practise yoga, reinforcing the message that wellness transcends age, profession and social boundaries.
