What better way to celebrate a birthday than by giving someone else the gift of life?

That powerful message resonated across Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar on Wednesday as National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets turned the birthday celebrations of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat into a meaningful humanitarian mission by participating in a voluntary blood donation camp—demonstrating that true patriotism extends beyond the parade ground into service for society.
Organised under the aegis of Group Headquarters NCC, Ahmedabad, the initiative reflected the NCC’s enduring commitment to community welfare and inspired young cadets to become active partners in strengthening the nation’s healthcare system through voluntary blood donation.
Interacting with the cadets, Governor Acharya Devvrat lauded their noble contribution and encouraged them to continue embracing the ideals of selfless service, responsible citizenship and nation-building.

The Governor commended the cadets for transforming a ceremonial occasion into an act of compassion and urged them to uphold the highest values of humanity by serving society with dedication and commitment.
Brigadier S.S. Jamwal, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Ahmedabad, also interacted with the participating cadets and appreciated their enthusiasm in supporting a cause that saves countless lives.
Brigadier Jamwal praised the cadets’ spirit of volunteerism and encouraged them to continue serving society with discipline, dedication and compassion, reinforcing the National Cadet Corps’ ethos of ‘Unity and Discipline’.

The blood donation drive offered cadets an opportunity to translate the NCC’s core values into meaningful action while contributing to a critical healthcare requirement. Beyond strengthening blood banks, the initiative fostered empathy, teamwork, leadership and civic responsibility among young volunteers—qualities that lie at the heart of responsible citizenship.
Officials noted that such community outreach programmes play a vital role in shaping disciplined, confident and socially conscious youth who are prepared to shoulder responsibilities both during emergencies and in everyday life.
By regularly participating in humanitarian initiatives, environmental campaigns and social service programmes, the NCC continues to empower young men and women to become catalysts for positive change, demonstrating that service to humanity remains one of the highest forms of national service.
