The mention of Ahmedabad formed part of a wider address celebrating India’s achievements in self-reliance, national security, sports, public participation and cultural heritage, while underlining the growing role of citizens in nation-building.
Reflecting on the country’s rapid progress in defence manufacturing, Modi highlighted a series of indigenous milestones achieved during June.
“Everything—from the design to the manufacturing of these ships—is indigenous,” he said while referring to the induction of three naval platforms into the Indian Navy. He also celebrated the successful maiden flight of the Made-in-India C-295 aircraft and the successful testing of an indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile, describing them as major milestones in India’s march towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Calling public participation India’s greatest strength, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to citizens for responding positively to his recent appeal aimed at conserving national resources amid the prevailing geopolitical situation in West Asia.
“I am grateful to every citizen of the country; not only have they supported my appeal, they are also actively cooperating in every way,” he said, noting that many families had postponed gold purchases, deferred overseas holidays, embraced carpooling and adopted greater use of natural fertilisers.
Describing people’s participation as the soul of a vibrant democracy, Modi remarked, “The people are the soul of any nation. And when the people of that country make a resolve, no force can deter them from their goal.”
The Prime Minister also urged citizens to support local artisans ahead of Ganesh Utsav, encouraging the purchase of eco-friendly clay idols made by Indian craftsmen.
“When we purchase idols from local artisans, we strengthen the resolve of being ‘Vocal for Local’,” he said while also appealing to people to avoid Plaster of Paris idols in the interest of environmental conservation.
Ending his monthly address with a call for collective responsibility, Modi urged every citizen to continue supporting the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign.
“Water conservation is a must! We must save every single drop of rainwater,” he said, stressing that sustainable development begins with individual action.
With Ahmedabad earning a special mention for hosting one of the world’s biggest Yogasana events and India continuing to notch up achievements across defence, technology and sports, the Prime Minister’s address projected a confident vision of a nation advancing through innovation, self-reliance and people’s participation.
