The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has inaugurated an international training programme on “Road Safety and Traffic Enforcement” under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) framework of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The two-week programme (10–21 November 2025) brings together 27 senior officers from 18 countries, strengthening global collaboration in traffic management, policy development, and enforcement strategies. Organised by the Centre of Traffic Management under the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP), in partnership with the International Cooperation and Relations Branch and Directorate of Professional Development and Training, the initiative reflects RRU’s growing global role in promoting safety, sustainability, and security education.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Dharmeshkumar Prajapati, Registrar of RRU, said road safety was “not just a matter of regulation but a global responsibility connecting human security, governance, and sustainable development.” He emphasised India’s leadership in technology-driven enforcement, data-based policymaking, and citizen-centric safety campaigns that align with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021–2030) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr. Prajapati reaffirmed RRU’s mission to serve as a global knowledge hub for internal security, law enforcement, and strategic capacity-building, offering platforms for international cooperation and academic exchange.
Over the two weeks, delegates will participate in expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and field visits to key institutions including the Gujarat Road Safety Authority, Integrated Command and Control Centres, and model traffic projects across Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. These visits aim to showcase India’s progress in intelligent traffic management, policy innovation, and community-oriented enforcement systems.
As India’s premier national security university, RRU continues to pioneer cutting-edge research and training for modern policing, mobility governance, and SMART law enforcement—defined by the principles of being Strict and Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Techno-savvy and Trained.
The ongoing ITEC programme underscores RRU’s role as a hub for international academic diplomacy and a key contributor to global efforts in road safety, responsible mobility, and sustainable governance.
