In a significant reinforcement of India’s maritime security framework, ICGS Apoorva, a Fast Patrol Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard, arrived at Okha on March 27 and was accorded a befitting welcome ceremony attended by senior dignitaries from the Indian Navy, BSF, Customs, Fisheries, and the State Administration.
The induction of the vessel into the Coast Guard Region (North West) fleet marks a decisive step in strengthening coastal security, particularly along the sensitive shores of Gujarat, Daman and Diu.
Equipped with state-of-the-art navigation, communication, and surveillance systems, the ship is capable of expeditious, sustained, and mission-based operations at sea, significantly enhancing operational readiness.
Strategically based at Okha, a crucial location near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), ICGS Apoorva will play a pivotal role in fortifying maritime security architecture in the region.
Its deployment is expected to enhance persistent surveillance and enable rapid response to contingencies at sea, while also strengthening efforts to safeguard fishermen, maritime borders, and national interests.
This addition to the force level reaffirms the Indian Coast Guard’s steadfast commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and vigilant coastal environment in the North-West maritime sector.
