In a high-alert maritime operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has seized a Pakistani fishing vessel and apprehended 11 crew members for operating illegally inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off the Gujarat coast. All detainees were handed over to the Jakhau Marine Police for detailed investigation.
Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari confirmed the action on X, stating that the ICG “apprehended a Pakistani fishing boat with 11 crew inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone,” underscoring the force’s relentless monitoring of the nation’s maritime frontiers.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to protecting its maritime sovereignty, the ICG said, “The interception reflects the unwavering vigilance of the Indian Coast Guard and India’s firm resolve to protect its maritime frontiers and uphold international maritime law within the Maritime Zones of India (MZI). Relentless surveillance and proactive operations remain the bedrock of our maritime security strategy.”
Officials said the fishing boat was detected deep inside Indian waters, prompting an immediate and well-coordinated interception. The operation is part of the Coast Guard’s sustained mission to secure coastal borders amid persistent transboundary threats in the region.
The latest interdiction follows similar crackdowns, including an August operation by the Border Security Force (BSF), which apprehended 15 Pakistani fishermen and seized a boat in Kori Creek, Kutch.
The Coast Guard reiterated that “continuous vigilance across India’s maritime domain remains a cornerstone of national maritime security,” as patrols intensify along sensitive coastal corridors.
