Marking a significant step towards technology-driven public healthcare and welfare delivery, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the PM Family Care Tracker pilot project in Gandhinagar, describing it as a transformative initiative that will ensure every eligible citizen—beginning with every newborn child—receives the benefits of government welfare schemes in a timely, transparent and seamless manner.
The programme was launched in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, senior government officials and healthcare professionals. On the occasion, Amit Shah also administered Pulse Polio vaccine drops to children, reaffirming the country’s commitment to protecting every child from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said the country’s governance model had undergone a historic transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, driven by long-term planning, continuous monitoring and effective implementation.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined holistic and inclusive development by formulating long-term policies, ensuring their continuous monitoring, and implementing them effectively on the ground,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of the new digital platform, Shah said the PM Family Care Tracker would integrate birth and death registration databases to generate a unique digital identity for every child, enabling automatic enrolment and timely access to government welfare programmes.
“Integrated with birth and death registration data, the PM Family Care Tracker will provide every child with a unique ID, ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach them automatically and in a timely manner,” he said.
The Union Minister explained that the initiative would overcome long-standing challenges relating to beneficiary identification, outreach and efficient implementation of welfare programmes.
“The PM Family Care Tracker will address the key challenges of beneficiary identification, government outreach, and the effective delivery of welfare schemes,” he noted.
He said the platform would establish an integrated monitoring mechanism capable of identifying vulnerable families and ensuring targeted intervention wherever required.
“Through an integrated monitoring system, the PM Family Care Tracker will ensure the effective delivery of the benefits of government welfare schemes to those in need,” Shah added.
Describing Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as one of the defining governance reforms of the past decade, he said the Modi Government had fundamentally changed welfare delivery by ensuring that financial assistance reaches beneficiaries directly without leakages.
“Through Direct Benefit Transfer, the Modi Government has established a new framework for transparent and effective welfare delivery for the poor,” he said.
Referring to various flagship welfare programmes, Shah said the government had expanded access to housing, electricity, tap water, sanitation, LPG connections, food security, affordable medicines and free healthcare for millions of economically weaker families.
He further observed that several long-pending developmental challenges had been resolved within a relatively short period.
“In just 12 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved numerous long-standing problems that had affected poor families for generations,” he said.
The Union Home Minister also highlighted the government’s healthcare reforms, including expansion of medical education, strengthening of health infrastructure, wider availability of affordable medicines, Ayushman Bharat’s health insurance cover of up to ₹5 lakh, and renewed emphasis on India’s traditional healthcare systems through AYUSH.
Officials said the PM Family Care Tracker is expected to evolve into a comprehensive digital governance platform by integrating healthcare, nutrition, immunisation, social security and welfare databases, enabling real-time monitoring and ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left behind.
The launch, coupled with the Pulse Polio campaign, reflects the government’s broader vision of combining preventive healthcare with technology-enabled governance to build a healthier, more inclusive and digitally empowered India.
