AHMEDABAD, APR 18
In a sharply focused grassroots campaign, four Congress candidates contesting from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Gota Ward No. 1 have unveiled an expanded people-first agenda, promising a comprehensive civic overhaul anchored in transparency, inclusivity and technology-driven governance.
The candidates—Ushaben Jayeshkumar Brahmbhatt, Jalay Ashokkumar Chauhan, Dineshbhai Lallubhai Desai and Nitaben Ashokkumar Bhatsara—have pledged to prioritise sanitation, healthcare, education, road infrastructure and women empowerment, while introducing innovative measures such as the deployment of Artificial Intelligence to ensure transparent, efficient and accountable civic administration.

A key highlight of the campaign is the commitment to strengthen Primary Health Centres (PHCs) with a special focus on women- and senior citizen-centric healthcare, ensuring accessible, affordable and quality medical services at the grassroots level.
The candidates have also promised time-bound delivery of quality infrastructure projects—including roads and bridges—to not only improve connectivity but also enhance the overall image of Ahmedabad as a UNESCO heritage city. Their development blueprint includes expanding housing initiatives to provide a roof over the homeless and economically weaker sections, enabling a more dignified standard of living.
Further, the manifesto outlines plans to create community-centric urban spaces such as recreation facilities, community halls and public libraries, aimed at fostering social cohesion and improving quality of life across all sections.
A distinctive feature of their campaign remains the emphasis on facilitating education for linguistic minorities in their mother tongue, reinforcing a commitment to cultural inclusivity and equitable access to opportunities.
The local agenda is closely aligned with the Congress’ national “Nyay Patra” vision, which focuses on social justice, welfare expansion and equitable growth across youth, women, and marginalised communities.
The broader framework includes guarantees such as universal healthcare and targeted welfare for weaker sections—principles the candidates say will guide their ward-level governance.
