VADODARA, JULY 10
One of Gujarat’s most celebrated culinary legacies is entering an exciting new era of growth. Jagdish Farshan, the iconic 88-year-old snack and namkeen brand that has delighted generations of customers, has unveiled an ambitious expansion strategy focused on airports, highways and premium transit destinations, positioning itself to serve millions of travellers across India.
The latest milestone came with the inauguration of the brand’s sprawling 4,000 sqft Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) outlet at Kalol, formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, marking another significant chapter in the Vadodara-born brand’s remarkable journey from a single neighbourhood outlet to a nationally recognised name.
Built with an investment of ₹2 crore, the Kalol outlet complements Jagdish Farshan’s recently launched retail stores at Ahmedabad Airport and Surat Airport, laying the foundation for an aggressive expansion along the Delhi–Mumbai Highway corridor.
The company expects the first phase of this expansion to generate an additional ₹5–6 crore in revenue over the next year while significantly strengthening its retail footprint in high-traffic travel destinations.
With India’s rapidly expanding road and air travel ecosystem creating new opportunities for organised food retail, Jagdish Farshan is strategically positioning itself where today’s consumers increasingly seek convenient, trusted and authentic culinary experiences during their journeys.
Explaining the vision behind the expansion, Aakash Kandoi, Managing Director, Jagdish Farshan, said the future of India’s traditional snacks industry lies in transit retail.
“Transit retail is where the next phase of growth in this category will be won. Airports and highways bring us a consumer who is short on time but not short on trust, and that changes how we think about format, packaging, even where a product sits on the shelf.”
Highlighting the long-term strategy, he added: “Kalol and our airport stores are proof points, not one-off wins. The Delhi–Mumbai corridor is a natural extension of that thinking — it is one of the busiest travel routes in the country, yet organised regional snack brands have barely scratched the surface there. We see real headroom for a brand built on decades of trust in Gujarat to earn that same trust with a much wider audience.”

Emphasising that the company’s expansion is guided by careful planning rather than rapid growth, Kandoi said:
“This isn’t expansion for its own sake. Every location is chosen on footfall, dwell time and category fit, and we intend to build this network with the same discipline that took Jagdish Farshan from a single Vadodara outlet to a name recognised across the country.”
The newly operational airport outlets in Ahmedabad and Surat offer access to a growing base of premium travellers, business professionals and tourists, while the Kalol outlet is strategically positioned to cater to the increasing volume of motorists travelling along one of India’s busiest economic corridors.
The expansion reflects changing consumer behaviour, with travellers increasingly preferring high-quality regional brands that combine authentic flavours with convenience, hygiene and quick service.
As the brand enters its next phase of growth, Jagdish Farshan aims to take Gujarat’s rich culinary heritage to a wider national audience, reinforcing its reputation for quality, tradition and innovation while creating memorable food experiences for travellers across India’s evolving transport landscape.
