AHMEDABAD, APR 27
In a moving call that blends compassion with scale, the world’s largest elder care sanctuary — Sadbhavna Old Age Home — has opened its doors to childless, destitute, disabled and bedridden elderly, offering completely free, lifelong care with dignity at its sprawling Rajkot campus.
Located within the monumental Vinubhai Bachubhai Nagrecha Parisar, this ₹500-crore initiative is redefining humanitarian care, with capacity to accommodate 5,000 vulnerable lives across 1,400 rooms in a 20 lakh sq ft built-up area spread over 30 acres.
The institution has issued a heartfelt appeal to bring in those abandoned by circumstance—particularly elderly persons suffering from physical illness (excluding cancer), cancer patients, and even individuals of any age in a comatose state—ensuring that no one in need is left behind.
Currently, over 700 elderly residents, including 260 completely bedridden individuals, are already being cared for with round-the-clock medical attention, emotional support and community warmth.
Speaking about the ethos of the institution, its guiding philosophy resonates deeply:
“Old age homes are not only an Indian culture but are a necessity of today’s Kali Yuga.”
Reinforcing its humanitarian commitment, the institution affirms: “No fee, charge or subscription is taken from the elderly in need… All facilities are provided free of cost.”
Designed as more than just an assisted living facility, the campus includes seven high-rise towers (11 floors each), a dedicated tower for the Jain community with a temple, and an ecosystem that nurtures body, mind and soul.
Residents benefit from 24/7 medical care, physiotherapy, personalised supervision, cultural engagement, and spiritual wellbeing, all delivered with a rare blend of professionalism and compassion.
The emotional core of Sadbhavna is captured in its most poignant reassurance:
“I am loved, I am valued, I am His.”
Beyond infrastructure, the campus offers a rich ecosystem—a grand Satsang Hall, modern library, recreation rooms, therapy centres and a state-of-the-art auditorium—ensuring that every day is filled with purpose, interaction and dignity.
A sacred temple within the complex stands as a spiritual anchor, envisioned as “not only made of stone, but a place where loneliness diminishes, devotion flourishes, and every soul feels close to the Supreme Being.”
From chess games to bhajans, from physiotherapy sessions to community bonding, Sadbhavna transforms abandonment into belonging—creating not just shelter, but a family for life.
In a compassionate outreach, the organisation has urged citizens: If you come across any destitute, helpless, bedridden, cancer-stricken or comatose individuals, bring them to the Sadbhavna Old Age Home near Paddhari on the Rajkot-Jamnagar Highway—where care is not a service, but a sacred duty.
