Even as the rescue operation in the triple train mishap was concluded there were no report of eight persons from Tamil Nadu so far, sources said. The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday said that no Tamil was killed or injured, out of the 127 individuals who had reserved tickets on the ill-fated Coromandel Express that met with an accident in Odisha’s Balasore. However, contact could not be made with eight people, while the remaining 119 passengers were confirmed to be safe.
According to the information received so far, no person from Tamil Nadu was killed or injured warranting treatment.
The Southern Railway provided details of the passengers, specifically focusing on those who had residential addresses in Tamil Nadu or Tamil names. A comprehensive list of 127 people fitting these criteria, who had reserved tickets for the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express, was compiled.
The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) promptly established communication with 119 individuals from the list, confirming their safety. Unfortunately, contact details, including mobile numbers, were unavailable for the remaining eight individuals, two of whom were women and six were men.
The SEOC urges anyone who has information about these individuals, whether they are relatives or friends, to promptly convey it to them. The eight individuals with whom contact could not be established are named as follows: Narakanigopi (34), Karthik (19), Raghunath (21), Meena (66), A Jagadeesan (47), Kamal (26), Kalpana (19), and Arun (21).
