Adding a global dimension, 38 delegates from 22 countries under the International Election Visitors’ Programme (IEVP) witnessed the polling process, acknowledging India’s scale and efficiency in conducting elections.
Operational efficiency remained high, with mock polls completed before voting commenced at 7 AM in the presence of over 1.8 lakh polling agents representing 1,899 candidates. Presiding Officers ensured timely updates of voter turnout data, minimising reporting delays.
The Election Commission also rolled out several voter-friendly innovations, including:
- Colour photographs of candidates on EVM ballot units
- Mobile Deposit Facility (MDF) for personal belongings
- Redesigned Voter Information Slips (VIS) for clarity
- Reduced voter load (max 1,200 electors per booth)
Special emphasis was placed on inclusivity, with wheelchairs, volunteer assistance, and transport facilities provided to Persons with Disabilities (PwD), ensuring equitable participation.
While turnout data remains provisional—excluding service voters and postal ballots—the Election Commission confirmed that final figures will be published in due course.
