Reinforcing its commitment to responsible hospitality and community impact, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) marked four years of its ESG+ framework ‘Paathya’ with the Bharat EkSaath Walkathon in Chennai, bringing together employees, families, partners and citizens in a spirited 3-km walk for a cause.

Held at the iconic University of Madras, the walkathon was part of a global initiative conducted simultaneously across over 200 locations in 14 countries, underlining IHCL’s growing focus on sustainability and inclusive growth.

The Chennai edition saw enthusiastic participation from teams across IHCL’s portfolio, including Taj, Vivanta, Ginger and SeleQtions properties, reflecting a unified commitment to social responsibility.

“Bharat EkSaath is more than a walk—it is a collective expression of our commitment to responsible hospitality and community well-being,” said an IHCL representative.

The walkathon was flagged off by Dr. S. Armstrong, Vice-Chancellor Convener Committee, University of Madras, and Megalina Iden, DC Traffic – East, who lauded the initiative for blending health, community bonding and social impact.

“Such initiatives foster not just physical well-being but also a shared sense of purpose and responsibility towards society,” a senior official noted at the event.

The route, spanning Chennai’s scenic Madras Beach Road, began and concluded at the university campus, culminating in a celebratory gathering with breakfast, medal distribution and certificates for participants.

Importantly, the funds raised through the walkathon will support the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT), which undertakes welfare initiatives for affected communities, further strengthening IHCL’s purpose-driven approach.

“Through Paathya, we continue to embed sustainability and social impact into our core operations, ensuring that growth is both inclusive and responsible,” the IHCL spokesperson added.

As the hospitality major continues to expand its ESG footprint, Bharat EkSaath stands out as a powerful symbol of unity, wellness and collective action for a better tomorrow.
